		<description>Maybe I should wait for the follow-up column, but I&#039;m asking this: If every parent were to tell kids that they have to do unpaid chores and then do EXTRA chores if they want any money for what they want to buy, how radical would that seem after a few years? (Granted, this can be tough if you&#039;re the only parent in the neighborhood who does this.)

Of course, one should NOT pay more than minimum wage, if that. One shouldn&#039;t pay by the hour either, given kids&#039; tendency to dawdle.</description>
