Hi friends – I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas! Mine started around dawn as I heard the stifled, excited screams and pattering of feet up and down the stairs as my kids reported to each other on what it looked like Santa had brought.
That was pretty wonderful, but my favorite part? When my youngest, Olivia, age 7, gave me a plate she had painted for me at school and it said, “Mary Christmas!”
Yep, it really is a wonderful life. So here’s this week’s column:
I hope you are having a blessed day, and a very Merry Christmas!

Hi Betsy-
You always comment on being a suddenly single mom who recently (within the last few years) moved from Virginia to the Chicago area with your 4 young children. I was just wondering…what about your ex? Does he have any contact with your children? From your column, it appears that he is totally out of their lives as well as yours. If your ex is still interested in being a dad, even though he no longer wanted to be your husband, why would you move your family far away from him if you believe that dads are so important to children? I thought you were a widow from one of your columns, but later learned that you were faced with a sudden and unwanted divorce. Just wondering if your ex totally abandoned his 4 children too…
You sort of write about him in a negative light…what if your children read your column?
Happy New Year.
Diane
