Hi Friends – I hope you had a chance to listen to Part Two today of Teens and Marriage (Your Marriage!) on WYLL AM1160/Chicago.
Dr. Paul Randolph of Insight Christian Counseling has some great wisdom on how to manage your teens and their turbulent years – and see your marriage thrive in the midst of it all.
On his website (www.insightcounsel.org) there’s a button that includes bullet points for much of what we talked about. Be sure to visit and pass it on to a friend in need.
If you missed the show, you can get it later here, or on Friday at www.nationalreview.com.
Have a great week!
Betsy

Hi Friends – here is my column this week. A little late, but hope you enjoy! (And for those who occasionally ask about what my kids think of being talked about in my column? I’m afraid my younger ones in particular are hams – and they love it. Sigh.)
And more about tomorrow’s radio show tomorrow but FYI – it’s “part two” on loving your marriage even while raising teens! Hope you tune in, and hope you are having a great weekend.
Best, Betsy

Hey, friends – you will want to tune in today as Dr. Paul Randolph, the head of Insight Counseling in Pennsylvania, does the first of a two-part show on teens and the stress they can inflict on their parents’ marriage! What can couples do to see their marriages not just survive what are typically the most difficult years for a marriage, but thrive during them?
(You can find out more at www.insightcounsel.org)
Listen today to WYLL/AM1160 Chicago, streaming at www.wyll.com, or later here or on Friday at NationalReview.com
As always, thanks for stopping by.

Hi friends – I hope you’ll tune into “It Takes a Parent” today at noon central time, AM1160/WYLL Chicago (or www.wyll.com). I’ll be talking about all kinds of things as we head into the new year, including the Hedonic Treadmill – why getting more stuff just makes us want more stuff – the Gardisil vaccine for nine-year-old boys (are these people nuts?) and why men don’t write advice columns, for starters.
I hope you get to listen in or later on this site, or Friday on nationalreview.com.
As always, thanks for stopping by!

Hey friends –
I’m sure I’ve laughed longer and harder at myself than when I saw this little headline in today’s Chicago Sun-Times – I just can’t remember when. (I mean, tell everybody, why dontcha? Maybe I should paste it to my forhead!)
Commentary section, letters to the editor. I’m having trouble linking to the image for now, but suffice it to say it was a letter to the editor from a fellow who said he wanted to see more of my columns, and fewer of the more salacious variety.
The Sun-Times folks entitled his letter, “More Betsy Hart, Less Sex” and I’ve been laughing ever since.
(So then I guess the question is – does less sex sell?)
I hope it brings you laughter too – Happy New Year!

Hi friends – wow the idea of a “gap year,” as the Wall Street Journal described it this week, sounds great. Heck, I would love a “gap two weeks,” but I’m not holding my breath.
Anyway, I feel optimistic that even living a “constrained year” (see column) in 2009, it’s going to be a good one. I hope the same for you. Happy New Year!
Thanks for stopping by. Betsy
