Right on, Betsy! It amazes me...you and I could find a dozen political issues on which we'd disagree, but I find you always hit the nail on the head when it comes to parenting, which is why I keep coming back to your blog again and again. Your honesty and common sense is so refreshing in contrast to the endless psychobabble about putting building kid's self esteem above all else, "poser" parents who are really just oversized pals to their kids, and most hilarious of all, parents who brag about things like the "inate wisdom of their 4 year old". Thanks for being such a light. And good luck taming that little "eye rolling" darling of yours!

Ms. Hart,

I always read your columns and love them - even though I don't always agree with you. By the way, regarding the "10 and under" lines, I take that to me "10 or close enough". I'm not going to count my items.

Regarding the school incident, I would be interested to know the age. Even though you've said you don't believe in "perfect" kids, it seems like that's your standard. I've seen a lot of "bad" kids with soft parents who grew up to be decent kids. Do you ever think they're just being kids and that they will grow out of it? Not to get personal on you, but I sometimes see this "root out all evil" mentality with evangelical parents that live around me. That's not possible.

Anyway, thanks again for all your writings. Your one of my favorite columnists.
