Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. Both from the Chicago Sun-Times, and the longer version from Scripps Howard News. It’s summer time, and we’re all showing a bit more skin. But sadly, ome kids have a lot more skin to show these days because of obesity. Well, it takes a parent to help a kid eat right!
Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. Is it possible we can’t afford to tell our daughters not to work?
(Today and forward, I’m including two versions: The Chicago Sun-Times version, which appears on Thursdays but is gone from their archives after a month, and the longer version from Scripps Howard News Service, which appears on Fridays.)

Hi friends – I hope you’ll tune into “It Takes a Parent,” AM1160/WYLL at noon on Sunday, or later stop by for a podcast here or on National Review.com. This week’s guest is writer Megan Basham, author of “Getting the Life you Want by Helping Your Husband Get Ahead” (Forum Crown, 2008). She has some really provocative things to say, and I’m certainly not afraid to challenge her a bit, too! I think we are both pretty good at taking apart the feminists, and how they they have made things harder, not easier for women – particularly when it comes to marriage!
Meanwhile, I wanted to let you all know that I’ll be taking a break from the “It takes a Parent” show for the summer! My last show until fall will be next week, May 28th. I hope you tune in. And, I hope you get a chance to enjoy the archives over the summer months.

Hey friends – today’s show on “It Takes a Parent” is a “best of,” featuring one of my favorite parenting writers, Marybeth Hicks, as she talks about everything, well, facing moms and families in a culture gone wild.
I hope you can tune in live at noon central, AM1160 Chicago, streaming at www.wyll.com, or scroll down to the entry for March 15th to listen to a podcast of the show anytime.
Hi friends – it was so great to see so many of you today at my luncheon talk at the University Club of Chicago. I appreciate all your kind words, and all the good questions. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone. Please feel free to e-mail me if you’d like to follow-up.
Blessings to you, and again thank you for your support!

Hi friends – I hope you tune in to “It Takes a Parent” this week when I talk about America’s spirituality. There have been lots of negative news reports about Americans and their drop in religious affiliation. But the news is better than that. I touched on it in this week’s column, and will talk more about it on the show.
I’ll also look at whether it’s true then when it comes to men and religion, “they’re just not that into Him” as Gail Falsani of the Sun-Times put it. The science is that men are not has “hard-wired” for religion as women are. Among other things, I’ll make the case that this is a practical argument for why women shouldn’t occupy positions of authority in the church.
And there are some other fun segments in the “Hart Beat” part of the show too.
I hope you’ll tune in today at noon central, AM1160/WYLL Chicago, streaming at www.wyll.com, or podcast tomorrow here or on Friday at NationalReview.com
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a blessed week.
