Column – A Parent and Third Grade Angst

Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. A meeting with school parents prompted this one, as you’ll see. (It’s amazing they keep letting me in to those things!)

Enjoy.

Betsy on FOX

Hi friends – just an FYI that I’ll be on the FOX News Channel between noon and 1 eastern time this Saturday, talking about kids and GPS systems. (What if they turn the things around and then they could find me more easily? Yikes!) And next Friday, the 6th, I’ll be on FOX again on Hannity’s “Great American Panel.”

Thanks for stopping by!

Column – The Perils of Romantic Pornography

Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. A provocative title? Sure. This column came to me when a fellow who is a friend of mine and I were talking, and he made the point that he felt chick flicks are often hurtful to relationships. I remembered having written about exactly that when the movie Titanic came out.

Then later my daughter mentioned the super skinny Ralph Lauren model. She thought that whole thing was ridiculous. It occurred to me our culture goes crazy over some presentations of women in the media. But probably not the ones of women, or men, which are the must destructive!

Spanking our kids less. . . but yelling more! Ouch!

Hi friends – Here is such an interesting article on how me may spank our kids less – but we yell at them more! I don’t think that’s a great tradeoff. . .

Spanking Our Kids Less But Yelling More – Ouch!

As of today I’ve put some mechanisms in place that will allow me to post more, so please check back more often!

Column – Why Don’t We Invite our Young Children to Worship With Us?

Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. I decided to write it when I had yet another friend express surprise to me that in my church (Presbyterian, PCA) even young children worship with their parents throughout the entire 90 minute worship service. This is fairly uncommon in the evangelical world, and I think that’s a terrible loss.

Today’s Church Message is Too Often “Don’t suffer the little children in Worship!”

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
