Column – Why Don’t We Invite our Young Children to Worship With Us?

Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. I decided to write it when I had yet another friend express surprise to me that in my church (Presbyterian, PCA) even young children worship with their parents throughout the entire 90 minute worship service. This is fairly uncommon in the evangelical world, and I think that’s a terrible loss.

Today’s Church Message is Too Often “Don’t suffer the little children in Worship!”

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

“teaching them the doctrines of our faith”, Ok, that really sounds fun, and rather sterile and legallistic. God forbid that children would actually have fun during a worship service, they might miss out on being taught the doctrines of faith. It’s my understanding from reading the Bible that faith is a gift of God and has little to do with “doctrine”. Evangelicals have a problem with doctrine and teaching the law. I have a novel idea, why not gear the worship service to worship, and I don’t see a problem with age appropriate worship services. We can save the teaching of the doctrines of faith to an online correspondence course.
