Sandy, thanks so much for writing. Hopefully you know that arctic ice had been advancing and receding since the beginning of time. In fact when Lefi Erikson was exloring during the warming period of 1000 years ago, he wrote about finding vinyards in Greenland. The reason he could get even farther north so easily is because so much of the ice was broken up. That period was 800 to 1300 AD - long before huge amounts of CO2 hit the atmosphere. I have doubt that the globe warmed from about 1980 to 2005. the question is is it all bad - no, did man cause much or any of it - probably no - is there any reason to devastate the world's economy and the poor in particular to try to stop a natural earth cycle. No. We should put resources into dealing with the inevitable climate change of the planet, not trying to change the inevitable climate change of the planet. The earth just isn't as fragile a we arrogant humans like to think. Thanks so much for writing.

All I'm going to say on this subject is what you're advising parents to do is reckless and false. Global warming is real - if there is any cooling, it most likely has to do with recent volcanic activity.

When I was 16 (I'm 42 now), I took an Alaskan cruise with my parents. We visited with the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau during the trip. The ice was right up near the road. 25 years later I went back with my husband and once again I got to see Mendenhall. Only this time, I would have had to swim about 1/2 mile in Mendenhall LAKE to get to the ice!

As a degreed geologist, no way does the earth move that quickly. No way is ice supposed to melt that fast. For you to say that global warming is hysteria is so irresponsible! By telling your kids this, you are basically saying it's ok to keep plundering the Earth and to continue to defile God's Creation.
