Hi Grace - thanks so much for writing. I totally hear you on the "aggressive girls" angle. (I have one boy, three girls - I see all sides!) I touch on that in my column later this week. I think we live in a culture that teaches boys to treat girls as objects, and encourages girls to be sexually and socially aggressive (with boys) in a way that does NOT come naturally to girls. I think what we are seeing in aggressive girls is a "front" that no one really likes, and it's something the culture has created. It's done a lot of harm to boys and girls!

Anyway, stay tuned for more, and again thanks for letting me hear from you.

Best, Betsy Hart

I think in our "natural" state, girls a a great civilizer for boys

Hi Betsy,
I caught the FOX story yesterday and really appreciate that you're addressing this issue. Yay!

I do confess, however, that I got quite riled by your several references to girls being victimized by boys. Things have changed drastically from the '50s, when this was more true. As a mother of three sons, I have been stunned by the blatant sexual aggression I've seen in girls toward guys. It's a big topic, which I realize can't be covered here, but it needs to be recognized. Thanks for caring.
