Column – Where are the Moderate Muslim Protestors?

Hi friends. Here’s my current column. I’m so disturbed that my kids and I will have to be subjected to body scans because as a nation we refuse to take terrorism seriously!

Where are the Moderate Muslim Protests?

update: I was delighted to read in Friday’s papers that there have been some protests by moderate Muslims in Detroit, when the “Underwear Bomber” was in Court last week. We need so much more of that!

Column – Happy Today!

Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. A gathering with dear high school friends helped me to think through why I should cherish. . . today. Happy New Year, and Happy Right Now!

Column – If You Just Believe. . . In What?

Hi friends! So maybe I sound like a real Scrooge or Grinch here – but I can’t stand the Josh Groban Christmas song “Believe.”

(As a side note, why do we always forget the Scrooge and the Grinch reformed at the end? Sigh.)

If You Just Believe. . . What?

Merry Christmas!

Column – Why Marriage Alone Should Change “The Rules”

Hi friends – so I notice that in our culture we give this weird status to the boyfriend/girlfriend relationship at the same time we are taking status away from marriage itself. (I would argue that has a lot to do with sex being in the relationship before marriage, but I think that’s a different column.) Anyway, as always I love to hear what you think!

Column – Oh What a Lesson from the “Jersey Boys”

Hi friends – I had an interesting time seeing the “Jersey Boys” recently with my girls. It’s interesting seeing what some people get upset about!

Oh What a Lesson from the Jersey Boys

BTW, for all of you who wrote to me about H1N1 – my kids and I were all able to get the H1N1 vaccine last weekend. I hope you can do the same if you haven’t yet. Thanks for all your suggestions on that front!

Column – When H1N1 Walks in the Door. . .

Hi friends – here’s last week’s column (which did not get posted because of the holiday). It’s all about the Hart family’s recent life with the H1N1 flu. . .

BTW, I would generally encourage you to get the vaccine if you can!

H1N1 Meets the Hart Family – Ouch!

Enjoy – Betsy

Column – “Life is Short. Have an Affair.” Hmmm, I Have a Better Idea. . .

Hi friends – here’s this week’s column. It’s a little personal, all about marriage and whether one should need to “merit” the love and faithfulness of one’s spouse each day.

I thought of this when I recently debated Noel Biderman, founder of the Ashley Madison website for married people looking to hook up with other partners. I asked him what he would think if his own wife used his site. He had an interesting answer. . .

Life Is Short – Have an Affair?

As always, I love to know what you think!

Best, Betsy

Teens and Dating and Why Parents Should be More Involved

Hi Friends – this is a really interesting piece in today’s Wall Street Journal on teens and dating. I realize that I’m from another planet as I’ve encouraged my kids to have lots of friends of the opposite sex but “wait to date” seriously until they are ready to think about marriage.

According to this piece, maybe I’m not quite so out of line. . .

What do you think?
